    Matcha Whisk Care Guide

To ensure your bamboo matcha whisk (chasen) lasts for years and performs beautifully, follow these simple care steps:

Before First Use: Soak the new whisk in warm water for 3–5 minutes. This softens the bamboo tines, helping them open naturally and preventing breakage. Avoid boiling water or direct heat, which can damage the bamboo.

During Use: After each use, rinse the whisk in warm water for 1–2 minutes to remove any residual matcha. Soaking before use makes the tines more flexible and easier to handle, though it’s not strictly necessary every time.

After Use: Rinse thoroughly with clean water and let it air dry completely. Never leave it wet for extended periods, as this can lead to mold. Once dry, store it on a whisk holder to maintain its shape — without one, the tines may deform over time.

Important Tip: Never use soap or detergent to clean your whisk. These can damage the natural bamboo and alter the taste of your matcha.

Proper care not only preserves the whisk’s structure but also ensures every cup of matcha you prepare is as smooth and frothy as intended. Treat your chasen with respect, and it will reward you with years of perfect whisking.
